Can You Celebrate Arbor Day in Prosper and Frisco, Texas on November 6 and 7?

Can you celebrate Arbor Day in Prosper and Frisco, Texas on November 6 and 7?

Yes. Prosper holds its Arbor Day Celebration on Friday evening, November 6, 2026, and Frisco holds Bison & Blossoms, its own Arbor Day celebration, on Saturday morning, November 7. You can plant, learn and walk through two Collin County towns inside one weekend, and the Friday and Saturday times do not overlap.

If you are planning a move to Frisco, Texas, a weekend like this shows you something a listing photo cannot: what a Saturday morning outdoors feels like here and in the town next door. I'm Omega Mejia, a real estate agent with Simply Great Real Estate Group, and I wrote this for anyone picking a visit weekend in Frisco.

What is happening in Prosper on November 6 and 7?

Prosper has two events on the town calendar that weekend. The first is the Prosper Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Prosper Fire Station 2, 1140 S. Teel Pkwy. The Parks Operations team leads it, and the town describes it as informal and hands-on. It includes live demonstrations, tree plantings and tips on tree care and maintenance, and the experts on hand take your questions.

The second is the Prosper Veterans Day Honor Run on Saturday, November 7, at Frontier Park, 1551 Frontier Pkwy. The day opens with a ceremony at 8 a.m., followed by a 10K, a 5K and a Fun Run. The town says you can run, walk or cheer from the sidelines, and a medal ceremony for top finishers closes the event. Race proceeds benefit the Prosper Veterans Memorial, and the Prosper Rotary Club and the town's Parks & Recreation department run it. Sign-up goes through RunSignUp.

Prosper is the neighboring town to Frisco, so a Friday evening visit there fits naturally into a Frisco weekend.

What happens at Bison & Blossoms in Frisco on November 7?

Bison & Blossoms is Frisco's Arbor Day celebration, and it runs Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Frisco Commons Park, 8000 McKinney Road, with activities near the splash pad. The event goes on rain or shine, and the city describes it as a special experience for all ages and abilities.

The morning follows a clear schedule:

  • 9:00 a.m. Arbor Day welcome, introductions, a proclamation reading and a sapling giveaway.
  • 9:30 a.m. Live animal demonstrations and educational tabling.
  • 10:15 a.m. A guided tree tour and a seed stomp, where you plant native wildflowers and grasses.

You can also help plant a new tree at a Frisco park alongside the Frisco Garden Club and members of City Council. The city combined two older events, ArborFest and Buffalo Stomp, into this one celebration of Frisco's prairies and natural areas. It supports conservation across the Blackland Prairie, the soil belt that runs through this part of North Texas.

If this kind of morning appeals to you, my things to do in Frisco page lists more. The city opened a new park this fall as well, and I covered it in my post on Northwest Community Park.

Does Frisco care for trees the rest of the year?

Yes. Frisco is a Tree City USA, a designation from the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters. A town earns it by keeping a tree board, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry budget of at least $2 per resident and an annual Arbor Day observance with a proclamation. Bison & Blossoms is where Frisco meets that last standard in public.

The city's Natural Resources Advisory Board educates residents and links city staff with the community on natural resources. Its mission covers protecting existing trees and guiding how new trees are chosen, planted and maintained. Two programs let residents take part directly:

  • Champion Tree. Residents nominate a healthy Texas native tree on city park property that best represents its species. Nominations run January 1 through October 31.
  • Living Legacy Tree. Residents plant trees in neighborhood and community parks to honor an accomplishment, a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation or a loved one.

The city also publishes a How to Plant a Tree guide and works with local elementary schools and the Boys & Girls Club on tree education. For a newcomer, that tells you trees are part of how Frisco plans its parks and streets, not an afterthought.

If you are relocating to North Texas, what does this weekend show you?

It gives you a full morning to walk Frisco's parks and one evening to see how the town next door runs its own event. You can arrive in Prosper for the 5 p.m. Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, stay in Frisco overnight and be at Frisco Commons Park for the 9 a.m. sapling giveaway on Saturday.

Two towns, two parks, two sets of staff running public events gives you something to compare in person. You see how each place sets up a morning, where you park, how the paths run and how the crowd moves. That tells you more than a map does. If you want a side-by-side of two cities, my post on Frisco versus McKinney shows how I lay one out.

When you are ready to see homes, my buying process explains how a first tour works, and the new construction page covers neighborhoods still being built.

How do you plan the weekend?

Here is the weekend in order, as of October 29, 2026:

  • Friday, November 6, 5 to 6 p.m. Prosper Arbor Day Celebration at Prosper Fire Station 2, 1140 S. Teel Pkwy.
  • Saturday, November 7, 8 a.m. Prosper Veterans Day Honor Run opening ceremony at Frontier Park, 1551 Frontier Pkwy, with a 10K, a 5K and a Fun Run.
  • Saturday, November 7, 9 a.m. Bison & Blossoms begins at Frisco Commons Park with the Arbor Day welcome and sapling giveaway.
  • Saturday, November 7, 9:30 a.m. Live animal demonstrations and educational tabling in Frisco.
  • Saturday, November 7, 10:15 a.m. Guided tree tour and seed stomp in Frisco.

The Honor Run opens at 8 a.m. and Bison & Blossoms starts at 9 a.m., so most visitors pick one for Saturday morning. Prosper's Friday evening event pairs with either choice. To see where Frisco fits among its neighbors, read my Frisco area guide.
