The city's hike and bike trails near the Preston and Lebanon area include the Starwood Trail, which runs 1.3 miles from Lebanon Road north to Stonebrook Parkway, the Iron Horse Trail at 1.2 miles, and the Dominion Trail, which runs 1.2 miles from Hillcrest Road to Preston Road.

Everyday shopping near Chapel Creek is on Preston Road. Tom Thumb is at 4848 Preston Road, near the corner of Preston Road and Lebanon Road, with curbside pickup and delivery. Target is at 3201 Preston Road, with grocery pickup and same-day delivery.

A Saturday in Chapel Creek can start with a morning walk on the Oakbrook Park trail before the Frisco heat sets in. On the way home, Tom Thumb on Preston Road covers the week's groceries. The afternoon fits laps or a class at the Frisco Athletic Center, which the city describes as having more than 100,000 square feet of indoor space. The evening ends on the Starwood Trail or at a picnic table at Preston North Park.

The main trade-off in Chapel Creek is that Preston Road is a busy corridor: the shopping that makes errands easy also brings traffic. Trail access also varies from street to street.
